Medical use of drugs for erectile dysfunction

Researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center tested the drug Tadalafil (sold as erectile dysfunction drug under the brand name Cialis) for men with Becker muscular dystrophy, one of nine types of muscular dystrophy, a group of hereditary muscle diseases to spend.

Here is a small description of planned research, Dr. Ronald G. Victor cedars and colleagues, funded by muscular dystrophy Assn. Twenty-four men with Becker or receive two doses of placebo or medication, and researchers will measure the degree of blood flow to the muscles that occurs when people exercise. According to a study in which mice with muscular dystrophy version of the animal can exercise more vigorously and with less muscle damage, when they received the drug.

With Tadalafil dilates blood vessels, and after examining the damage to the muscles of muscular dystrophy in mice, apparently due to a lack of blood supply, the court makes any sense.

And if so, it will be only one of a number of potential medical use of drugs for erectile dysfunction, who hail from the nearest full circle it seems.

Here are some facts about the history of medicine published in 2006 in the journal Nature Reviews Drug Discovery. (Sorry, but the journal needs to pay more than the abstract.)

The first of these drugs, sildenafil (Viagra) has been bumped to early human trials of potential drugs angina (at the time simply known as UK-92, 480) scientists from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer. The researchers found that people in the trial were reporting erections.

Zatsikavyvshys, scientists have begun testing designed specifically to test the effect of sex, in which erection was measured using the "device Rigiscan" - a loop located on the penis, to assess how hard, and they received direct sexual stimulation.

Since 2005, sildenafil has been approved by the FDA under the name Revatio for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension, the condition of high blood pressure in the pulmonary artery.

And the authors of Nature Reviews Drug Discovery point for research, sildenafil and similar drugs could potentially help diseases such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, stroke and certain other lung diseases.

"Moreover, they write," many years ago left the original instructions, a single dose of sildenafil was shown to extend the deadline for the introduction of men with angina.

And again: "While these results may seem far removed from each other and all the disorders
